We Conservator – Restorers, like those on the BBC’s “Repair Shop”, have our specialist areas of practice. Mine is the refinishing of collectible, designer, and reproduction wooden furniture from the mid-20th century onwards.
Being trained and experienced in wooden furniture making and antique furniture restoration, by merging the skills and knowledge from both disciplines I have developed and expanded upon an area otherwise rarely catered for.
“Back to Bare Wood” refinishing, using the correct materials and factory processes, enables furniture to be brought back to “as new” condition, thus transforming such pieces into some of the finest examples of their kind in existence today.
This is in direct contrast to the work of Antique Restorers, who have no such facilities, and whose training and objective is on the preservation of evidence of age.
